Larry P. Hollis Sr.

June 15, 1937 - December 31, 2020

Funeral services for Larry P. Hollis, Sr. will be Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah. Larry P. Hollis, Sr. was born June 15, 1937 in Pell City, Alabama to Charlie Hollis and Ann (Horton) Youngblood. He passed away Thursday, December 31, 2020 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma at the age of 83. Larry grew up in Alabama and married Peggy Hurst on July 3, 1959 in Talladega, Alabama. In 1969 they moved to the Okemah area and began working as a butcher for Charles Hair’s IGA. Larry also worked for Allied Roofing in Stroud for 9 years and operated convenient stores and service stations in Okemah. He loved Alabama Football, riding his Harley in his earlier years, fishing and especially spending time with his kids and grandkids. He also proudly served his country with the United States Navy during the Korean War. Larry was a good man will be dearly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Brenda Gay Tipton; two brothers, Ed and Jerry Hollis and one sister, Carolyn Britain. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Sue Hollis; his son, Larry Hollis Jr. and wife Misty of Okemah; five brothers, Claude Hollis of Illinois, Richard, Jimmy and Fred Hollis of Alabama and Robert Ward of Illinois; sister, Joyce Poe of Alabama; five grandchildren, Brandon Tipton and wife Kristen, Tracy Spears, Larry Hollis III and wife Tasha, Dustin Tipton and Mason Blalock; 8 great-grandchildren, Dusty, Christian, Dalton, Jayden, Hailey, Snowy, Malaki and Crisha and brothers and sisters in law, Ed “Boog” Hurst, Nancy Brewster, Charlie and Jennifer Hurst and Violet Guthrie all of Alabama. Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home and officiated by Bro. Donald Baker. Online condolences may be made at www.ParksBrothersFuneralHome.com. Those in attendance will be required to wear a mask.
