Ronald E. Bond

Graveside services for Ronald E. Bond will be held Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah with Pastor Doug Hauenstein officiating. Ronald E. Bond was born September 7, 1945 in Okemah, Oklahoma to Gene and Irene (Montgomery) Bond. He passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 75. Ron went to Okemah Schools in his early years and later graduated from Drumright High School in 1963. He later went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in business and finance from Oklahoma State University. Ron began his banking career with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (1968-72) and the Citizens State Bank of Okemah (1972-77). He and other investors later formed the American State Bank of Broken Bow, Oklahoma where he served as president (1977-95). He later sold the Broken Bow Bank and along with his wife Mary and family they moved to Tulsa. There he opened American Family Mortgage Company and later sold the business in 2009. Ron was a former member of the Okemah Kiwanis Club and treasurer of the Texas/Oklahoma District of Kiwanis International 1975-76. He was the president of the Okemah Chamber of Commerce (1977) and Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce (1984). He served on the Board of Directors of Oklahoma Banker’s Association and the State of Oklahoma Legislative Compensation Board. Ron was also a past Deacon of the First Christian Church of Okemah and member of the Asbury United Methodist Church of Tulsa. He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Mary Bond. Survivors include his parents, Gene and Irene Bond of Tulsa; two daughters, April Irene Stacy and Angela Marie Alexander; grandchildren, Riley Harrison, Brady Harrison, Mitchell Longacre, Landon Longacre, Blake Stacy and Blair Stacy. Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, Oklahoma. Online condolences may be made at www.ParksBrothersFuneralHome.com.
