Rev. Wallace Gambler

February 10, 1939 - August 7, 2020

Funeral services for Rev. Wallace Gambler will be held Friday, August 14, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Wetumka, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at the Hanna Cemetery. Wake services will be Thursday, 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Okemah. Wallace Gambler was born February 10, 1939 in Hanna, Oklahoma to Martin and Lillian (Proctor) Gambler. He passed away Friday, August 7, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 81. Mr. Gambler was baptized at Weogufkee Baptist Church in Hanna, Oklahoma by Rev. Coleman Lewis. He graduated from Jones Academy in Hartshorne as a child and was a current resident of Okemah. He and Brenda Leftwitch were married May 23, 2016 in Okemah. Mr. Gambler was a longtime minister of the Grace Baptist Church of Wetumka. He served the Hillibee Baptist Church, assisting Rev. Brutus Washington and Rev. Austin Barnett in his Christian works. He enjoyed fishing, old cars, mechanic work and traveling. He also proudly served his country with the United States Army. He received his basic training at Ft. Hood, Texas. He served the U.S. Army Artillery and stationed in Lawton. Mr. Gambler received his ministry degree from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Shortly after being ordained he started the Faith Baptist Church of Dustin, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Essie Verlayne Gambler, 2 brothers; David and Richard Gambler and three sisters; Juanita, Geneva and Katie and one half sister; Ida Barnett. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Gambler of the home; two daughters, Melissa Sacks and husband Eddie of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Chandra Hicks and husband Roscoe of Okemah and grandchildren, Roscoe Joshua Hicks Jr., Cherokee Sacks and Melissa Sacks. Serving as active pallbearers will be Harold Hicks, Roy Hicks, Roy Hicks III, Amon Hicks, Wayne Tiger, Danny Joe Tiger and Harrison Hicks. Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.ParksBrothersFuneralHome.com.
